Why do witches have warts?

Halloween. It’s a day, that is sweet and spooky at the same time. Sweet because children go and search for candies, and spooky because there are ghosts, spiders, black cats and bats all around. And, of course, WITCHES. Today we will tell you something about witches and also teach you how to draw them.

Who doesn’t know them? They are women with big, black hats and a warty nose. Their name comes from the name of a nature religion that men and women in the British Isles practiced about 1300 years ago and was called Wicca. Wicca means “wise ones” and the female Wiccan was known as a witch, while the male Wiccan as a wizard. (Source >>)

Today, witchcraft is generally considered as a practice or belief in magical skills and abilities, but the connotation of the word varies across different regions of the globe. For example, in the Philippines, witchcraft is often classified as malevolent. In Southern African traditions, however, there are three classifications of somebody who uses magic: the thakathi is a spiteful person who operates in secret to harm others; the sangoma is someone employed in detecting illness, predicting a person’s future or identifying the culprits in a crime; while the inyanga, whose name is often translated as “witch doctor”, is someone whose job is to heal illness and injury and provide his customers with magical items for everyday use.
